Native Habitat:

Growth Habit & Mature Size:

Perennial herb, 1–2 feet tall, with pinnately compound leaves arranged in a ladder-like pattern. Produces clusters of showy pink to rose flowers atop erect stems.

 

Light & Soil Requirements:

Full sun to partial shade; thrives in well-drained sandy, loamy, or rocky soils. Tolerates seasonal dryness once established.

 

Willamette Valley Native Companion Plants:

Camassia quamash, Achillea millefolium, Eriophyllum lanatum, Sidalcea campestris, Festuca roemeri.

 

Urban Garden Function:

Provides vertical structure, vibrant seasonal blooms, and layered foliage texture to urban meadows, naturalized landscapes, and pollinator gardens. Works well in low-maintenance borders and habitat-focused plantings.
